Bento 30 and 31

16 Apr

Bento #30:

pasta with sausage, beef, green beans

Bento #31:

Leftover chili, carrots, hummus, salad

Homemade hummus is so good. To bad the picture got washed out. Don’t those carrots look like cheetos? I promise you they were carrots!

Both these meals left me hungry in a few hours. I need to work on packing more carbs to keep me full.

I found a recipe online and kinda winged it. Basically, dump into a blender/food processor:
1 can chick peas with 1/2 the liquid
      3 Tbsp tahini
2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 clove garlic, minced finely or mashed
      splash of fresh lemon juice
      1/2 tsp cumin
      salt and pepper

This is very basic and you may want to flavor it the way you like it. Olives, roasted red peppers, pine nuts or roasted garlic are great. You may want to use less liquid at first and add to your liking. Mine came out a bit thin.

i have a really old blender that’s past it’s prime. it did ok for this hummus but failed at making pesto. It’s time for a new blender and to finally get a food processor!!
